Hacienda has granted the first licences for web pages dedicated to online betting. A licence is needed to have any such site with a .es domain, and those sites which have obtained a licence will be allowed to operate from 9am on Tuesday June 5. The Ley de Juego, which was approved last year, says the portals which do not have a licence will have to block access to Spanish users. Among the first sites to obtain a licence are NetBet and Miapuesta.es. The new law creates a new fiscal regime for online betting in Spain and establishes the obligation for these sites to pay their taxes.
